Get Notified Via E-mail on Breaking News
The two links below are useful for getting breaking news in your e-mail and seems to be the best way to get information quickly.

*The emergency E-mail network has a service where you can get national information as well as information regarding counties in what ever state you wish (you can get two for free, more than that and you have to pay) http://www.emergencyemail.org . I've used this service before and it is helpful.

*CNN has a service (as I'm sure the other news web sites do as well) where you can receive e-mail notifications of breaking news in specific categories. Go to: http://www.cnn.com. On the left side of the screen mid way down is a section called "services". Under that is something called "e-mail services", you can sign up from there.
